Troubleshooting

Water-tank warning

Possible causes

Tank empty or not fitted
Refill the water tank
Grounds-container warning

Possible causes

Container full or counter not reset
Empty the grounds container
Alarm light stays on

Possible causes

Container, tray or door not correctly fitted

Refit the grounds container and drip tray correctly. Remove the water tank and make sure the service door is closed.

Alarm light flashes

Possible causes

Brew group not fitted or blocked
Remove and refit the brew group
Rinse the brew group
Lubricate the brew group
Alarm is on and start flashes

Possible causes

Air is trapped
Release trapped air
Drink lights turn on and off in sequence

Possible causes

Machine heating or releasing air

Wait until all drink lights stay on.

AquaClean flashes orange

Possible causes

Filter needs installation or replacement
Replace AquaClean
Calc / Clean flashes slowly

Possible causes

Descaling is needed
Descale the machine
All warning lights flash

Possible causes

Reset and cooling may be needed

Stop making drinks and consult Philips support or the retained manual for the complete reset sequence, filter and blockage checks. If the lights continue flashing after the prescribed cooling period, contact support. Contact support

Rinse after interrupted descaling

After an interrupted descaling cycle

    Rinse before making drinks

    Empty and thoroughly rinse the tank. Fill with fresh water to Calc / Clean and switch on; let the automatic rinse finish. Before making drinks, remove the milk accessory. Select hot water and press start/stop; repeat dispensing until half a tank has run through. Then brew 2 cups without adding coffee. For each cup, select a single coffee drink, hold aroma strength for 3 seconds to select pre-ground coffee, and press start/stop. Select pre-ground mode again for the next cup. The machine will need another complete descaling cycle as soon as possible.

    Select hot water
    Collect hot water from the outlet
    Hold aroma strength for 3 seconds to select pre-ground mode

    Release the air

    Fill the water tank, put a cup under the classic milk frother and press the flashing start/stop button. Keep clear: small jets of hot water come from the frother.
