Getting started

Prepare for your first wash

Before your first wash

  1. 1

    Check installation

Use the machine only after it is correctly installed, level and connected. All four transport bolts and sleeves must be removed and stored. If installation is incomplete, ask your installer to finish it before use.

  2. 2

    Prepare the empty machine

Remove packaging and accessories from the drum. Open the water tap. Select Drum Clean (labelled “Trommel reinigen”) and close the door.

  3. 3

    Add water and detergent

Pour about 1 litre of water into compartment II. Add oxygen-bleach powder detergent: half the detergent maker’s dose for lightly soiled laundry. Do not use wool or delicate-wash detergent. If a liquid-detergent dosing aid is fitted, do not use it with powder.

  4. 4

    Run the cycle

Close the drawer and press Start (labelled “Start/Bijvullen”). Wait for End, then start your first wash or turn the selector to Off (labelled “Uit”).

  5. 5

    Protect the machine

Before loading, empty pockets, brush out sand and soil, and close zips and fasteners. Follow fabric labels and the selected programme’s load limit; do not trap laundry in the door. Use washing-machine detergent at its recommended dose.

What you need

  • Powder detergent containing oxygen bleach

Keep in mind

  • Before hand cleaning, switch off and unplug, or isolate the circuit. Powered cleaning programmes need power as their steps describe.
  • Use a soft damp cloth on surfaces. Avoid abrasive, strongly alcoholic or solvent-based cleaners, hard scourers, steam cleaners, pressure washers, hoses and sprays.
  • Keep children and pets away from the open machine. Store detergent out of children’s reach; avoid splashes when opening the drawer.
  • Do not use damaged equipment. Disconnect power, close the tap and contact Bosch; leave repairs to qualified personnel.

Care & maintenance

Clean the drain pump

Yearly

Yearly, or sooner: Sooner if the pump blocks or rattles

  1. 1

    Make safe

Close the water tap, switch the machine off and unplug. Let hot wash water cool before draining; do not touch hot suds.

  2. 2

    Drain the water

Open and remove the service flap. Place a large shallow container below the opening. Unclip the drain hose and remove its stopper to drain into the container. Replace the stopper and clip the hose back.

  3. 3

    Open the pump

Carefully unscrew the pump cover; residual water may escape. If dirt holds the filter in the housing, loosen the dirt and remove the filter.

  4. 4

    Clean

Remove debris from the pump housing, cover and screw thread. Check that the pump impeller turns freely. If it stays blocked or you cannot remove the cover safely, contact Bosch.

  5. 5

    Reassemble

If the cover’s two parts separated, refit them correctly. Screw the cover fully home with its handle vertical. Refit and close the service flap.

  6. 6

    Prepare for washing

Open the tap, reconnect power and turn on. Pour 1 litre of water into compartment II. Select Spin/Drain (labelled “Centrifugeren/Afpompen”), choose no spin (crossed-out spiral) with the spin-speed control, and press Start. Let it finish before washing.

What you need

  • Large shallow container
  • Soft cloth

Keep in mind

  • Keep the pump cover closed until draining has finished. If you cannot confirm correct reassembly, ask Bosch before using the machine.

Dry the seal and air the machine

After each wash

  1. 1

    Empty and switch off

Wait for the drum to stop and the door to unlock. Remove the laundry and switch the machine off.

  2. 2

    Dry the seal

Wipe the rubber door seal dry with a soft cloth and remove any foreign objects.

  3. 3

    Let moisture escape

Leave the door and detergent drawer open so remaining water can dry.

What you need

  • Soft cloth

Keep in mind

  • Keep children and pets away while the door is open.
